I choose toilet because toilet is the thing we practically used even when we are toddler. I can't imagine that we make our rituals in a chamberpot. That's too ridiculous for me.

The secret of being miserable is to have leisure to bother about whether you are happy or not .

Wow! What potty mouths! ;) LOL! It was worse for women for so many reasons! Great little flick! I am so enjoying these!

It must've been worse for the women, especially, since they wore long dresses & petticoats.

Absoulutely hysterical. I prefer the flush. :)

Thank you for this reminder, I'm thankfull for electricity and flushtoilets.
I can still remember the nightime preference of using chamberpots in my young(er) days above the horror of using the pitchdark outhouse.
And... I'm also VERY thankful for the invention of soft ecofriendly toiletpaper!
Did you know about the sacks the ladies embroidered, patched and/or (crazy)quilted to hold (news)papers and old catalogues...?
(not to mention the use of washable rags of fabric, brrr)
;oP
Laura, I would love to win an autographed set of your books and learn more about the progress(?) we made.
:o)

...and we thought we were so modern. Meanwhile, as Susan pointed out, we've got our kids using chamberpots.

There is an obvious reason why this was considered an indelicate conversation topic!

I can't imagine using a chamber pot, but I've been told that I used an antique one when I was 3 years old and visiting my grandparents in Florida. I evidently thought it was a "potty" for me. :) In this day, when we are so hygiene-conscious too, it's hard to fathom "going" and then having to dispose of the waste yourself or have a servant do that. Ugh! I'm getting a visual. lol Toilet over chamber pot: definitely!
