Probably would have to be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It's just such a good story and it ends relatively optimistically compared to the other books in the series.

Some of my comfort reads are ones I first read in middle school. I LOVE The Giver, 1984, Farenheit 451, Kissed By an Angel (I read that this year though).

I would say Persuasion is my book of choice whether it be the whole book or select passages. I take comfort that there is a second chance to rekindle love lost, to rise above how people believe you to be (although with Anne's father and sister, that's not hard to do). And what can't warm a winter day but the eternal words "...you pierce my soul...."

Mu holiday comfort read is The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, I also like The Gift of the Magi. They just kind of help me get into the holiday mood.

My favorite holiday read would have to be the first book from the Twilight Saga (Twilight) because I first read it in 2008 when the holidays started pouring in. So whenever I go back to read it, I have a really strong feeling of nostalgia :) And the thing with nostalgia is that you remember it so well, and it's almost within your grasp, but right before you can get a firm hold on it, it slips away. Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite holiday read would have to be The Best Christmas Pageant Ever or The First Christmas. My mom used to read Christmas Pageant to me and then we would watch the movie and my dad would read the first Christmas from the Bible every Christmas morning. Definitely comfort reads now that I live states away from them.
Thank you for hosting this challenge :)

My favourite holiday comfort reads are the Anne series by Lucy Maud Montgomery and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I love re-reading the Anne series because it is a truly heartwarming story with lovable characters and a setting I would love to see one day. And as for P&P the main attraction is of course the sparring romance between Lizzie and Darcy (and his quiet yet powerful intensity) and Jane Austen's witty sarcastic humour :-) Love them :-)
Thank you for such an interesting challenge, enjoyed reading about others' comfort reads.

I choose A Series Unfortunate Events or Demonata - Darren Shan book series. They keep me awake until I am in the last page. No matter the story is little awkward. I love them

I can definitely relate to what Courtney said about an old friend. That's how my favorite reads feel to me, like old friends. For me PERSUASION is my number-one comfort read. Thank you all for sharing yours!

Oh what a fantastic giveaway for a Janeite! My Holiday comfort read or basic comfort read in general is "Jane Eyre". I'm not sure why but I simply adore it. It's like an old friend. Then again anything by Jane Austen or Elizabeth Gaskell also falls into my comfort read category!

I think my holiday comfort read would be Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. I usually re-read them at these days because I'm on vacation and have some free time. :)
