Reasons to love Darcy:
**Loyal
**Strong character
**Well-mannered (usually)
**Takes care of others
**Educated
**Ultimately chooses Elizabeth and defies society's expectations.
On a shallow level, he's handsome, well-dressed and wealthy...

Darcy is a complicated man. There are many sides to this man. There is the side he shows to society that is the the rich, arrogant aristocrat who expects the respect his position demands; to those friends he holds close he shows the side of himself that is loyal, steadfast and a true friend-a true friend who, whether it is right or wrong, looks out for their best interests; to his family, namely his sister, he shows a loving, protective and giving side that few see; there is a vulnerable side to him that no one sees, but through his love for Lizzy he begins to finally show that vulnerable side. There is something so enigmatic about this man and he certainly has Elizabeth perplexed a great deal of the time. Darcy and Elizabeth both grow through the process of this novel. Each with their pride and their prejudices go through a series of trials and tribulations that eventually allows them to grow toward each other. It's a tale of trials, tribulations and love that you just can't help but fall irrevocably in love with the characters and the story.

I love that he learns from his mistakes and makes a change.

i LOVE Mr Darcy because he's imperfect. He has faults. He's got a temper, he's got pride. But that makes him seem human, attainable. If he were TOTALLY perfect, it'd just be too unfair!

Mr Darcy is the dream boy for every girl...but instead of just watching him like and idol, we should see his human faults, so we can see that there are men like him. We, humans, make mistakes, and not just that, we can repair them. That's the dream thing we can be inspired about!

What WhatAllison and Laurie say is so true, I couldn't say it better.
(with my little knowledge of the English language, I'm always searching for more and better words and I realy can't find them now)

I love that Darcy is a fully-formed character (in ways both positive and negative) instead of a simple one-sided romantic interest. P&P was really the first romantic story I read where I was in tune with the romance side, and he's always been my ideal romantic figure.
And thanks to the BBC version of P&P, I STILL harbor a ridiculous crush on Colin Firth.

Isn't that so true, that we think we can change others. What is so satisfying about this story for me is not only that Darcy changes, Elizabeth does, too. She realizes she ihas the same flaws she accused Darcy of having: pride and vanity. He's handsome, he's rich, he rescues his future sister-in-law from disgrace, and he gets Elizabeth to take an honest look at her own character while working on his own.
Am loving everyone's comments!

Mr. Darcy, like all of Jane Austen's heroes, grew as a person throughout the course of the novel. Darcy was changed by his love for Elizabeth; he learned that he would never win her heart if he continued to act aloof and assume that just because of his wealth and rank in society, he could get whatever he wanted. He fell in love with Elizabeth because she was different; she wasn't after his money and even when presented with the opportunity to marry him and be deliciously rich, she refused because she didn't love him and thought she never could. She spoke honestly and walked through the mud where others wouldn't have dared tread. In real life, women think that they can change the men they love but more often than not this isn't so. Darcy's change of behavior and the fact that Darcy loved Elizabeth not in spite of, but because of her individuality and spirit makes him the perfect man. Men the world over should blame Austen for our high expectations!

What I like about Mr. Darcy is his strong sense of morals & doing the right thing. Although his niece is disgraced, he makes sure to take care of her, whereas others in those times would've turned their back on her. On screen, I think he is a hunk, he stands out because he doesn't go along with frivolous behavior. ;) What can I say, I have a soft spot for Darcy.
